Can You Get Botox® and Fillers at the Same Time?

If you’re exploring ways to refresh your appearance, you’ve likely come across Botox® and dermal fillers. Both are popular cosmetic treatments, but they work in different ways and address different concerns.

A common question we get asked here at The Center for High Tech Dentistry is: Can I get Botox and fillers at the same time? The short answer is yes. As a matter of fact, Kaveh Abedini, DMD, Simon Rosenberg, DMD, and our team often combine these treatments for many of our patients for enhanced results.

Here’s how it works:

Understanding Botox and fillers

Botox is a neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes your muscles. We primarily use it to smooth dynamic wrinkles, which are caused by repeated facial movements, like frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet around the eyes, and forehead lines.

Relaxing these muscles with Botox helps prevent your wrinkles from deepening and gives your skin a smoother appearance.

Dermal fillers, on the other hand, are injectable gels that restore lost volume, fill in static wrinkles, and enhance your facial contours. They’re often used for areas like the cheeks, lips, nasolabial folds, and under the eyes.

Fillers work by physically plumping and lifting your skin, giving you a more youthful appearance.

Combining treatments

We recommend combining Botox and fillers because each treatment addresses different aspects of facial aging. Botox softens movement-related lines, while fillers restore volume and structure. This combination approach is sometimes called a “liquid facelift.”

We’re trained, licensed professionals, so you can expect safe treatments when having both Botox and fillers in the same session. Many patients prefer receiving both treatments at the same time because it reduces the number of appointments and allows us to design a cohesive treatment plan in real time.

Timing considerations

While you can get Botox and fillers simultaneously, we may choose to stagger treatments slightly based on your goals and facial anatomy. For instance, we may first administer Botox to relax your muscles. For your next appointment, we may inject fillers to refine volume and contour.

We can assess your face and determine the optimal approach to achieve natural-looking results.

What to expect after treatment

After your session, it’s normal to experience minor swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites. The effects typically resolve within a few days.

Both Botox and fillers have minimal downtime, so you can usually resume normal activities immediately. Results differ: Botox effects develop over 3-7 days, while fillers provide immediate volume enhancement, with final results settling in over 1-2 weeks.

Combining Botox and fillers can provide a balanced, refreshed, and youthful appearance without surgery. Whether you’re looking to smooth wrinkles, restore volume, or both, we can create a personalized plan to help you achieve your goals safely and effectively.
